LADIES FIRST: CONTROL

In the 80's, the fight for Women's Equality in its evolution took on a new direction- one from a place of ownership of SELF. This focus was taken by women and expressed through a number of ways. Much of the focus was put towards empowerment through sexuality and ownership of our bodies, such as availability and access to contraception and protection. Through radical awareness, domestic abuse and single parent support also took on a new plateau. Our voices were finally being heard, from OUR point of view. We owe a great deal of that to the bad ass women who paved the way through music and provided us with a soundtrack to the ever continuing revolution.
